Types of establishment

Restaurants
Restaurants offer special tapas, owing to the importance and long-standing tradition of bar snacks. There is usually a short counter where you can taste the establishment's culinary delights. Restaurants also boast comfortable dining-rooms and a select menu of dishes and wines.
Taverns (mesones)
Their decor and ambience evoke the classical Granada bars of old. Taverns offer a broad range of Andalusian and Spanish wines. Their counters take up most of the room, although they also have tables where you can accompany the wines with delicious tapas.
Wineries (bodegas)
Wineries date back to the early 20th century. Although they have been renovated, they preserve their wine barrels and vats. They were related to the wine industry and customers could buy wine wholesale there. The wineries used to serve cold tapas, comprised of cold meats, cheese and olives. These days they serve a broad range of hot tapas.
Bars
Bars are known as the typical family establishment, with a counter in the main part of the room and tables set around it. Here the offer of tapas and drinks is even more varied.
