Friar Leopoldo (Alpandeire 1864, Granada 1956) was a Capuchin monk who lived in Granada from 1914 up until his death, on 9 February 1956. His main concern was collecting alms, and he travelled all over Granada calling for help for those who had been socially excluded. He is the figure that engenders the most love in the city. He was beatified on 12 September 2010.

The current Capuchin convent and the Church of the Divina Pastora date back to 1967 and are the work of José García-Nieto Gascón. The crypt of Friar Leopoldo, ranked second amongst the most visited places in Granada, is decorated with landscapes charting the life of the religious brother. On 9 February, the devout visit his tomb to commemorate his death, and also on the ninth day of each month, again to pay homage to this blessed figure.
