Cave of María la Canastera
The Cave of María la Canastera is a living example of the old and new flamenco

It is one of the most important and legendary zambras (caves used for flamenco shows) in the city, where the best flamenco can be seen. The Cave of María la Canastera is also a small, officially recognised museum, open to visitors.

María Cortés Heredia, known as La Canastera, founded the zambra in the 1950s. Many famous people have visited the cave, including Anthony Quinn, Ingrid Bergman and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The main room is lined with the typical straight-backed chairs with woven seats, copperware and dishes.
