There are two classical hiking routes:

  • Vía Verde de Sierra Nevada. It goes through the ancient tram route in the mountains. It covers 6km along the River Genil and it ends at Barranco de San Juan. There are several picnic areas and lots of natural pools. This route is perfect when traveling with children. It starts right from the same village.

  • Vereda de la Estrella. This route starts from Barranco de San Juan. It was the path to go to the mines of La Estrella. The end of the route is at Cueva Secreta. Approximately, it covers 10km length, with a vertical drop of 700m.

To arrive in Güejar Sierra, you can take bus 390 from Paseo de los Basilios —next to the church Iglesia de los Escolapios.

You can drive up to Barranco de San Juan. The bus does not go to Barranco de San Juan.
