Granada boasts a long tradition as a university city. It is a favourite destination for young students from elsewhere in Spain and abroad (Read language tourism). Granada has a lively nightlife scene thanks to the university population, which heads out when the sun goes down for tapas and to enjoy the easy, cosmopolitan ambience of the bars, live music, cinemas, and clubs.
