Granada City of Rock Route

Nobody has been able to answer the greatest enigma surrounding the rock’s phenomenon in Granada to this day. How could a city of this proportion –a small size in comparison to other national capital cities- be the second to none in musicians and bands in the country?

But the most striking thing is not only the amount of artists of Granada, but their quality. National and international recognised artists have been provided by Granada. Since pioneering bands as Los Ángeles or Miguel Ríos started this history, another legendary bands have arisen from this city like Los Planetas, 091, Lori Meyers, El puchero del hortelano, Lagartija Nick, Niños Mutantes or even the flamenco family Morente.

There are those who say that it is due to the presence of the young university atmosphere. Others argue that it is because of the large amount of bars and pubs along the city. Even there are some who blame on the Alhambra, the Albaicín neighbourhood and the water from Sierra Nevada mountains. Perhaps they all may be right. Or perhaps Granada in itself is sufficient reason to do rock?

The new route Granada Ciudad del Rock GRX-R&R was born with the aim to focus on all the musical heritage of Granada. Let’s go to discover how an authentic city breathe and feel the music in each street, each bar, each establishment and each concert.
