Garcia Lorca park
A place to take a break from the city's hustle and bustle and seek inspiration from Granada's great poet

It takes in an area of 80,000 square metres. It was inaugurated on 10 May 1995, following a long project phase that commenced in 1984 with the purchase of the vegetable garden from the descendants of the García Lorca family and other expropriations.

In 1989,José Ibáñez Berbel won the competition for ideas and on 23 April 1991 (book day), groups of schoolchildren planted the first trees.

It is a contemporary park that surrounds the poet''s family home. The area around the dwelling conserves elements of the original vegetable garden, whilst the remainder of the park boasts a more contemporary design. The rose garden, one of the largest in Europe, is particularly noteworthy, as is the avenue of poplars, which visually and acoustically shields the park from the impact of the motorway.
