Carmen of Max Moreau
Belgian painter Max Moreau loved the city of Granada and spent the last years of his life in the Albaicín neighbourhood.
This building was the residence of the Belgian artist Max Léon Moreau, who, having spent more than thirty years in the city, upon his death in 1992, bequeathed all his estate to the City Hall of Granada. It was renovated in 1998 to become a House-Museum.
In accordance with its denomination as a «Carmen», it consists of a house, an orchard and a decorative garden, along with three small terraces to adapt to the slope of the hill. It consists of three independent buildings, linked via patios: the artist''s house, his study and the housekeeper''s home. The dwelling currently houses the permanent exhibition of the painter''s work, whilst his study, which underwent the greatest change, now charts the life of the artist.
